The Serious Side of Food

With thanks to a grant from Humanities of New York, we are pleased to our present this Reading and Discussion program to our community;
The Serious Side of Food.

As described on the Humanities New York website:

With texts selected by noted restaurant critic Mimi Sheraton, this series will explore an aspect of our culture that often gets taken for granted: food. Food provides both nourishment and pleasure, of course, but under the surface of each meal lies a series of complex interactions and entanglements. Working with histories, novels, and journalism, this series exposes some of the issues that lie on our plates.

Discussions will be facilitated by local resident Carol Jensen, a licensed dietician.

All reading materials will be provided.

Begins on October 22 with an orientation and ending on January 7. All sessions begin at 7:00pm and take place at The Franklin Free Library.

*Registration is recommended but not required.

**If you missed the orientation, it's not too late to participate! Stop by the library during opening hours and pick up your books!
