Hilda Crane

Join us on June 28th  @ 7:00pm for Hilda Crane; a romantic '50s soap opera.

From the Presenter, Michael Paxton:

This month's screening winds up our series on romantic subgenres with a break from the black and white of Noir. Hilda Crane (or The Many Loves of Hilda Crane) is a Technicolor/CinemaScope offering with a slick, '50s soap opera treatment. Jean Simmons (Guys and Dolls, Black Narcissus, Hamlet) stars as a newly divorced woman who returns to her hometown with challenging results. Although dated (one of the ad campaigns even used the tagline, "Was Hilda Crane really a tramp?"), this film has some fine performances and is wrought with some good old-fashioned conflict. The film also stars Guy Madison, Jean-Pierre Aumont, Judith Evelyn and Evelyn Varden (who vies for the nastiest mother-in-law since Endora on Bewitched!).

And don't forget! Starting at 6:00pm, before the film,  KING"S (across the street) will open the doors for pre-movie cheer. Hope you can make it!

Presented by Michael Paxton, an Oscar-nominated producer and director.

See you then!
